Megan Schmidt graduated from McKendree University with a Bachelors of Business Administration with an emphasis in marketing. She started her career working at SSM Good Samaritan hospital in fundraising as a donor services coordinator. She served as administrative assistant to the Director of the Area Vocational Center at Mt. Vernon Township High School where she assisted each department chair with maintaining budgets and recommending strategies to meet their needs and concerns. She has also worked as the marketing director for the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce. The past year she has been a stay at home mom with her son, Jeremiah. During this time Megan started her own small business, GiGi’s Graphics, designing and creating custom t-shirts, cups, cutting boards, and other personalized gifts.

Community involvement has been a priority for Megan. She has shaved her head twice to raise awareness about St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and, with the help of the Mt. Vernon business community and individuals, raised over $70,000 for childhood cancer research. A 4th generation Rotarian, Megan has the honor of being the youngest past president in the history of the Mt. Vernon Rotary Club. She launched a literary program at a local elementary school and was involved with the Whiskey & Wine Pull fundraiser to benefit Coats For Kids. Megan also leads the middle school and high school youth group at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Vernon. Megan is no stranger to CEO. She served as a mentor in 2019-20 and 2020-21, and continues to follow up with the students to this day.  As facilitator, Megan is excited to mentor the students as they learn the skills they need to become future entrepreneurs.
