๐ธ Business Spotlight: Flower Girls ๐ธ
Today our Jefferson County CEO students had the opportunity to hear from Callie Lueking, owner of Flower Girls and an alum of the 3rd Jefferson County CEO class.
Callie shared the real story behind building and growing a business. When she first started, she was doing 30 to 40 weddings a year, and through persistence and growth she expanded to 75 weddings last year. Three years ago she relocated her business to Richview, where she was able to expand the greenhouse side of her business and continue growing her services.
What began as a sole proprietorship has grown into a thriving business that now supports two employees. In addition to weddings, Flower Girls supplies the SSM Gift Shop, offers fresh florals, operates a full service greenhouse, and continues to expand its reach in the region.
Callie spoke candidly about the realities of entrepreneurship, explaining that business comes in waves. At times she felt like she had โjumped in a pool and hit the bottom,โ but those experiences helped her learn what she could realistically handle and how to scale her business responsibly.
She also shared that she is currently rewriting the business plan she created during her CEO year, a reminder that entrepreneurs must continually adapt and evolve.
Her advice to students was simple but powerful:
โThe people you network with today will truly help you in the long run.โ
Callie encouraged students to find their niche in the market and offered practical advice they can apply as they continue developing their own businesses in the coming weeks.
It is always great to see CEO alumni building successful businesses and giving back by sharing their journey with the next generation of entrepreneurs. ๐ฟ
