Business Visit Spotlight | Deaconess Illinois Crossroads 🏥
Our CEO students had the opportunity to visit Deaconess Illinois Crossroads today for an engaging and hands-on experience that provided a behind-the-scenes look at healthcare in action.
We were welcomed by hospital leadership, including Desiree Stumpf, Chief Nursing Officer, who shared insight into the hospital’s structure and mission. Students learned how the transition to a nonprofit model allows the organization to reinvest resources back into the community, guided by a community needs assessment that helps determine priority areas of impact.
Students toured several areas of the hospital, gaining exposure to both clinical and operational aspects, including surgery with Jeff Fischer, Surgery Director, business offices, the medical surgical unit, the 3rd floor clinic/infusion area, and the emergency department with Mandy Bizaillion, Emergency Management/Workplace Violence Prevention and Alyssa Spicuzza, Regional Infection Control Lead/Quality.
One of the highlights of the visit was the opportunity to interact with advanced medical technology, including a surgical robot, giving students a unique perspective on innovation within the healthcare industry.
We were also joined by CEO Board Vice Chair Mark Black, who serves as Board Chair for Deaconess Illinois Crossroads and Regional Chair for the health system. His involvement provided valuable insight into leadership at both the local and regional levels.
We appreciate the Deaconess team for providing such a meaningful and well-organized experience. Opportunities like this allow our students to see firsthand how large organizations operate with a strong focus on service, innovation, and community impact.
