This morning, the CEO class had the great opportunity to visit Hughey Funeral Hone and speak with Mr. Mike Lampe. Hughey Funeral Home has spent years serving families in and around Mount Vernon, Illinois, providing care and support during some of life’s most difficult moments. During our visit, we learned about the dedication, compassion, and hard work required to run a funeral home. Being in this industry is not always easy, but making a difference in people’s lives requires a willingness to serve, adapt, and be there when families need you most.
🔄 Key Takeaways:
Compassion: Treat every family with care, understanding, and respect during difficult times.
Commitment: Running a funeral home requires being on call and ready to help whenever someone needs you.
Service: Success is not just about making money; it is about providing meaningful support to families and the community.
Adaptability: Be willing to change with the times, whether that means offering cremation services or adjusting to new customer needs.
Leadership: Build a strong team, trust your employees, and be willing to take responsibility when challenges arise.
One of the biggest lessons we took away is that success is not always measured by money. It is about making a difference in the lives of others and being there when people need you most. Hughey Funeral Home reminds us that running a business takes more than hard work—it takes compassion, patience, and a willingness to serve others.
As Mr. Lampe shared, being in the funeral business means being the first line of support for families during difficult times. Whether it is helping with funeral arrangements, preparing for a service, or simply providing comfort, every detail matters. Success requires dedication, a strong work ethic, and a genuine desire to help others.
